Great and professional service, thank you!
I had an appointment today at 10am and the studio was not open and no one was available when I showed up. Very unprofessional.
Background info: I have super straight, wispy eyelashes that are easy to curl (and hold a curl well) when using an eyelash curler, but never hold a nice enough curl with just applying mascara. I am very knowledgeable about the process as I've done plenty of research but never felt secure enough a kit and doing it myself. That's when I started looking around for a reasonably priced lash lift and ended up on this page! I bought the voucher and called in to an appointment and was told I would have Olena doing my lash lift. They immediately sent me a text confirmation and a reminder the day before, as well. Appointment day: I called when I arrived because I was having a hard time locating the building, and even though I was a few mins late (<10) she was totally cool about it. (For those of you that aren't sure, take the N train to 57th St & 7th Ave, 55th St exit, and start walking down to 6th & 1/2 ave, if you're on the side with a store called "Flowers of the World", you're on the opposite side so cross the street. However, if you see stores like "Darío Hair Salon" and a Greek restaurant, you're on the right side. You'll notice a deli "Stage Star Deli" right before 105, which is a residential building where Star Wax is located). I rang the bell as per given instructions and was on the way. As soon as I waked in, it was right to business. I went into this bright little room, got comfy, and laid down. Olena asked a few basic questions and immediately went to work on my eyelashes. The process summed up shortly goes like this - you keep your eyes closed for roughly 45 minutes, during which time you get your lower lashes pinned down and then your upper lashes are "glued" onto a pad that's glued onto your eyelid, where all the solutions are to go onto afterward. Most of the time, you're left alone to relax with some light music going. Waiting was really the hardest thing for me. You see, I went alone to a place that I had never been to before. I wear glasses and have real bad anxiety, so not being able to see anything at all, even check my watch or my phone, was really nerve wracking. At one point, the music stopped and I was left in a state of darkness, greatly depending on my other senses. At another point, my glasses fell and there was really nothing I could do about it - thankfully, Olena picked them up for me and placed them in my hands. Then tint was applied and I was told that I had just a few more minutes left. Ahh, perfect. I had spent most of that time over-thinking and my anxieties were getting the best of me. Finally, she came in to wipe off my lashes, one last application of some kind of serum or something (I didn't ask but I assume so). She had me open my eyes and keep them open while cleaning up around them. She told me that they should keep for at least 8 weeks, and that I was unable to wash my face for at least 24 hours. She handed me a mirror and I was so relieved that everything turned out just fine! I was worrying all for nothing! My eyelashes came out lovely and I can't wait to see what they look like after I finally wash my face. Tips: *Bring headphones (to listen to your favorite music or talk to some friends while you wait) or bring a friend with you, especially if you have anxiety like I do. Having a friend present brings comfort and ease to an anxious mind. *Take a shower and wash your face before going because you won't be able to get your lashes wet for at least 24 - 48 hours. (I suggest baby wipes and just avoiding water on your face. Avoid hot or steamy showers as steam is just as bad) *Know your lashes! If you have dead straight lashes that are highly resistant to curling with an eyelash curler or mascara (or both), then the perm may not work for you, either, due to your genetics. *Don't sleep on/excessively touch. *No makeup for the 1st day. I hope this review is helpful for everyone new to lash lifts! EDIT: To reflect the quality of the service (AFTER washing). Unfortunately, most of my lashes were damaged, brittle, & fried by the lengthy chemical process. :(
